This is the second of my Family (series) Mosaic Photos Quilts

Now that I got my Kickstarter project started, I’ve back to working on my Family Quilt project. I’ve finished the design for Family Quilt 2, which displays the my family photos mainly from the 1940’s & 1950’s. The Family Quilts will contain will more photos from the oldest to the more recent as the quilts are laid out. On the back of the quilts along with the quilt label, there will a key so that those in the photos may be identified and I have decided to prepare a photo book to go with each quilt.

The design of Family Quilt 2 is shown below

My Favorite Quilt Shop (in New Jersey)

I might be a little biased when it come to Old City Quilts but it was here where I learned to use the long arm machine, it’s where I do my quilting. Judy, Rob and the staff have been very helpful, given me great advise and have been very supportive as I been developing what I think of as my unique form of quilting… and if you are just looking for a  large selection of fabrics or a variety of classes, this is the place. I hope you get the opportunity to check them out.

XP or Vista Computer User, Microsoft is saying Bye, Bye to you

If you still use Microsoft Office on a XP or Vista Computer
Microsoft is saying Bye, Bye to you

Check out the following links on Office 2013:

I  use THIS – Apache OpenOffice 3.4.0 (for PC and Mac)  not That other MSOffice

I have been using Open Office for at least four years now and I found it totally compatible I’ll to Microsoft Word at least in the way that I use it. As for compatibility between the two at applications I think that open office of not only as 100% compatible but also more flexible than Microsoft office. And last but as far as I’m concerned one of the most important factors is that Open Office is available for free and they are always working to upgrade and expand the application.

Versatile Blogger Award

http://southernwild.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/versatilebloggerawardpic.png

I would like to send out a very special thanks to Alyssa at http://southern-wild.com/ for nominating me for the “Versatile Blogger Award.” I just recently started following her blog, and if you not checked out her postings, then you should follow her postings as she transforms her blog into something new! Thank you Alyssa!

As with all the Awards on WordPress there are rules to follow so here we go!

The Rules:
Link Back to the person who nominated you
Write seven things about yourself
Nominate 15 or so fellow bloggers, and leave a note on their blog to let them know

So here it goes, seven things about myself:
1. I am 59 yrs old and as a CAD designer/drafter until being laid off 1-1/2 ago, married with 3 children and presently live in New Jersey. My wife is a teacher who will be retiring soon at which time we will move from NJ to NV.
2. My oldest daughter is getting married this fall in Las Vegas.
3. I’ve been working to build my Art Quilt business over the past couple of years.
4. As you might see in my online presence, I’m a geek with a love photography, fabric and computers in that order.
5. I am also into family history, thanks to my grandparents who made sure we knew who we were and came from.
6. My life is focused around my family and the love of God.
7. I still am in wonder how the concept of Photo or Image quilting as I see it, seems so new. I am planning to try to set up workshops to get more people into doing it.
The next rule is to Nominate 15 other Bloggers for this award. This is my least favorite rule because I think anyone that has a blog that they are dedicated to posting on it at least weekly deserves these awards too, but I can only choose 15 so this might take me a while to narrow it down to just 15, but here we go…

New Jersey is the most urbanized state in the US but wildlife can be found everywhere. Here are a bunch of turtles sunning themselves in a pond located in the middle of a apartment complex near Camden NJ.

The tourist are gone, the surf is up as the Atlantic Ocean gets stirred up by Winter’s storms and the locals come out to surf fish and enjoy the view. When I was out taking photos, there were truck, suv’s, beach buggies, horses, dogs out on the beach as well as fishermen, people flying kites, people walking and taking pictures, all enjoying the winter light.
